Terry's Thoughts July 2021
As we rush through Summer, please do not forget how important it is to remember our responsibilities to the Lord, our families, our church, and certainly our responsibilities as believers. Often, in the Summer, our commitment to His church falls a bit short and the ministry of His church suffers. While I certainly understand it is important to take time away to enjoy our families and enjoy a bit of rest from the grind, please remember the church is successful only if the whole body takes care of its responsibilities regarding attendance, giving, and serving. So, enjoy some well-deserved time off, but also don’t forget His church in which you are a part.
Since this is a quick summer newsletter article, please allow me to share a few dates and share a few blessings already experienced this Summer:
- During the month of June several of our churches experienced record VBS times. There were many in attendance and there were salvations experienced. For the first time we had, in one experience, three churches who came together for a joint VBS. The reports were amazing. There was cooperation between churches, children from three different ministry fields who came together in unity, and no one church was burdened with all the expense. This model may be something we consider for the future
- Most of our congregations have returned to full schedules much like prior to COVID. While the number of those returning is not as many would have been hoped for, there is a great spirit among most to be back together. Please pray for your fellow church members who have not yet returned.
- We have experienced an uptick in baptisms. In fact, just this week I had the privilege to participate in the Annual River Service of Colerain Baptist held at Colerain Beach. The pastor had the privilege to baptize four in the Chowan River. Three of those four were his own grandchildren
- An upcoming event that you will not want to miss is a Region 1 pastor prayer gathering scheduled for Thursday July 22 beginning at 9:30 A.M. Even though this event is for pastors, all are welcomed. To be a part and plan well you will need to register. Please do so at this link https://www.westchowan.org/#event.
- Our upcoming July Quarterly WCBA Ex. Council meeting has been scheduled for Monday July 19 beginning at 7:00 P.M. here at the MRC. Please, if you are a council member, plan to be in attendance and invite others to be a part.
The above events are just a few you can be a part of this month. There are other announcements, events, and opportunities for you and your church outlined within this newsletter and on our website https://www.westchowan.org/. Please take the time to be with your brothers and sisters within the best association in the state of North Carolina. Finally, remember I love you and stand ready to assist you and your church. All you need to do is call.
